Soulshine, the new Empress experience is a pro-jam style concert focused on Soul, Funk and R&B music. The house band for this series will be Timm Walker's Groovemasters featuring Kenya Baker, Wilson Brooks and Simon Russell. Our first special guest will be Don Caruth of The Joint Chiefs

Guitarist Don Caruth is known most recently for his work with the The Joint Chiefs Band.  The Joint Chiefs have built a loyal following fusing elements of funk, acid jazz and classic R&B.  Specializing in “Old Style” funk and distinct rhythms, Caruth impresses audiences and fellow musicians with his effortless and unmatched chord progressions. Given his first guitar at age 7 by his musically accomplished parents, Don began displaying his ability in their family church, where he began cultivating his talents. Being completely self taught, being left handed, his first challenge was mastering a right handed instrument in reverse.

About The House Band:
Timm Walker (bass/vocals) is a founding member of the Zydeco Flames and BeaufunK and produces the Concord Sunday Pro Jam.
Wilson Brooks (drums) lives in Vallejo and has toured all over the world.  He is a member of The Gospel Hummingbirds and an ordained minister.
Kenya Baker (guitar) has toured with Tony!  Toni! Tone!, Lucy Pearl, Digital Underground and most recently, Joss Stone.
Simon Russell (keys/vocals) has been the keyboard player for Pete Escovedo and The James Borwn Band.  He has toured the United States, Mexico and Japa.  He now leads his own band, Groovality, a four-piece R&B/jazz group.
